For all you turtle enthusiasts out there, here is a wonderful new book for children: Carolina’s Story: Sea Turtles Get Sick Too! It is a photographic journal that follows the story of “Carolina,” a critically ill loggerhead sea turtle as she is rescued by the Turtle Rescue Team and then nursed back to health at the Sea Turtle Hospital of the South Carolina Aquarium. Children will empathize with Carolina as she is poked, prodded and cared for and will enjoy the happy day as she is released back into the open ocean – a healthy and happy turtle. An educational supplement in the back of the book includes teaching trivia, conservation issues, a make-your-own sea turtle craft, and sea turtle math games. While primarily written for children ages 4 to 8, this book will be enjoyed by all ages – especially those who care about these endangered animals.
