Description:
The SCISTP integrates "Conservation, Research, and Education" in Coastal Georgia to understand nesting ecology of loggerhead sea turtles. Fourteen K-12 Georgia teachers are trained annually in an eight-day Island residency with total immersion in sea turtle conservation. These teachers carry new experiences, knowledge, pedagogy, and technology back into their classrooms for teaching annual cohorts of students. This outreach has impacted over 250,000 school children in Georgia.
