The Non-Governmental Organisation (ONG) ECOASSOCIADOS develops its actions in the city of Ipojuca, located 47 km south of the metropolitan area of Recife. It is a membership organization, public private, nonprofit, integrated by the scientific community and the region's native community, which has been developing its activities since 1998 and was founded in 2003. Works in the area of conservation, management and environmental education, disseminating information on the ecological causes, publishing news about the environment, monitoring results, besides launching awareness campaigns, worrying about leaving clear the importance of environmental conservation.
The south of Pernambuco state is a important nesting area of the hawksbill turtle, olive ridley and longgerhead. This region function as a foraging area of the Green turtles juveniles and adults.
