Description:
The Aquarium aims to allow the visiting public to connect and learn about the natural marine and terrestrial world. Visitors are entertained while also educated on the importance of the conservation of our flora and fauna. Besides providing a first-rate experience for visitors, behind the scenes we protect and provide care to any animal that requires it.
Activities such a Sea Turtle Protection Program make the Aquarium an entity that prioritizes the environment. While the most common turtle is the Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea), the leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea) and black (Chelonia mydas agassizii) turtles have been present.
The patrolled urban and tourists beach consists of 21 km where almost 66,000 eggs were protected last year. The monitoring has been occurring for the past twenty years. Our hospital wing provides care to any sea turtle in the south of Sinaloa that washes ashore and needs clinical attention.
