Tambor Bay Turtles (TBT) Tortugas Bahia Tambor was formed in 2015 by concerned local residents of the Tambor, Costa Rica area. TBT decided to learn more about the few remaining Olive Ridley sea turtles that were still coming to the local beaches, and what could be done to protect them. In 2016, TBT carried out a pilot study of the local sea turtle population, where it was learned that there were many threats to the survival of the population, and that their numbers were rapidly declining. It was clear that something had to be done, and soon. This necessity beget today’s TBT, a sea turtle conservation project!
