Veracruz ridley on our first expedition in 1993...ha!

In 1993 Jeff Seminoff and I naively set off on a 4-month expedition to visit every sea turtle conservation project in Mexico (there were 52). From the Atlantic and Caribbean to the Pacific, we drove in our old Land Cruiser. We learned so much about Mexico's 6 species of sea turtle from the dedicated biologists working on those programs and, looking back, owe our careers as biologists and our life's passion for sea turtles to the kindness, generosity, trust and hospitality they shared.
