A type of fishing method. Longlines are put down (either at the surface with floats or submerged with weights) with baited hooks at regular intervals. These long lines can be 10s or 100s of miles long in industrial fisheries. Loggerhead and leatherback turtles are often caught on these hooks and many die as a result.
