Flora, Fauna y Cultura de México, A.C., a non-profit civil organization working for the conservation of our natural and cultural patrimony.
General Objective:
To contribute to the protection, preservation, research, and recovery of the populations of the sea turtles that nest in Quintana Roo’s beaches.
• On average, we protect more than 5,000 sea turtle broods per year.
• We release more than 500,000 sea turtle hatchlings per year.
To develop environmental awareness activities that focus on sea turtle preservation,involving neighboring communities, tourist and anyone concerned.
sea turtle species we protect: green turtle(chelonia mydas) and loggerhead (caretta caretta).
Protection area:
A 75 mile stretch along Quintana Roo’s central coast
(Riviera Maya-Tulum) that includes 13 nesting beaches,
protected by five turtle camps: Punta Venado, Paamul,
Aventuras-DIF, Chemuyil, Xcacel-Xcacelito, Xel-há,
Punta Cadena, Tankah, Kanzul, Cahpechén, Lirios
Balandrín, Yu-yum, and San Juan.
