Description:
For sea turtles, we are on a journey to establish fully locally led in-situ conservation in the Bay of Bengal region of Bangladesh. As a tiny group of Marine Conservationists, we are running this program fully funded by contributions from volunteers who are taking part in nest monitoring and research activities, and has research collaboration with the Department of Environmental Science and Management of North South University. We've successfully motivated local youths of Saint Martin's Island- one of the major nesting sites in Bangladesh, to establish in-situ nest monitoring and advocacy with tourism businesses for turtle friendly tourism practices. Volunteers are expected to help the local youth with conservation activities and taking part in several scientific studies based on their qualifications.
And as a not for profit society, 'Save Our Sea's broader work area is research for Ecosystem Based Management in Bay of Bengal region of Bangladesh and locally led marine conservation. We're doing underwater explorations and research work to delineate ecosystem boundary of several potential marine sub-system in the bay.
