SCDNR Marine Turtle Conservation Program The SCDNR Marine Turtle Conservation Program is responsible for managing and protecting sea turtles in the state of South Carolina, USA. This program has several all encompassing components: management, monitoring, research, and education. More specifically this program provides technical expertise on anthropogenic activities that have the potential to impact sea turtles (i.e., nourishment, dredging), locates and protects sea turtle nests (~300 km of coastline), documents strandings, performs necropsies on fresh dead strandings, works with the SC Aquarium to provide rehablitation for live strandings, monitors nearshore waters for leatherbacks, and provides as much education, outreach and exchange of scientific information as time allows. Local Ocean Conservation is a not-for-profit organization based in Watamu, Kenya, that promotes the conservation and protection of special marine areas and endangered species. The organisation was founded in 1997 under the name Watamu Turtle Watch. In 2014 our efforts were expanded to the south coast of Kenya where we started the Diani Turtle Watch programme.

Our programme work includes:
-Turtle nest monitoring & beach monitoring
-Turtle bycatch release programme
-Turtle rehabilitation centre
-Turtle anti-poaching patrols
-Mangrove restoration work & anti-poaching patrols
-Education programme with local schools & educational institutions from all over Kenya, East Africa and from abroad
-Marine Scouts programme
-Community outreach & development aimed at reducing anthropogenic pressures on marine resources
-Visitors centre open to the public
