Bald Eagle during flight training

This young bald eagle was rescued from a flooded nest in South Dakota. He was held in the Birds of Prey NW facility until healthy enough to be released back into the wild. In this photo, the eagle is being trained to fly using a falconry technique of short flights while tethered to a rope. This builds and stregthens the flight muscles in preparation for release.
