Beach erosion

This is part of the nesting beach on Bald Head Island, North Carolina, that has been subject to such rapid erosion recently that the houses near the beach have been protected by sandbags. These bags leave little room for nesting loggerhead turtles to lay their eggs.

You should also mention that this section of the beach was just renourished a couple of years ago (if it's where I think it is). Fat lot of good that did!

AND there are plans to renourish it yet again this year (2004).

I believe there are some houses west of that house on south beach that are currently in the water. Maureen at BHIC as pictures.
