This past Spring,2013, three leatherbacks were spotted by Dinene Hancock hanging around the Garden City Beach Pier. Sue-S.C.U.T.E. was notified by Dinene. They stayed close for about two weeks, two of them showed possible minor boat strike marks on their backs.

Is that fishing line I see in the photo? Wondering if the turtle was entangled.

Yes, it is fishing line. The turtles were not tangled, but I could not get the fishermen to pull their lines in when the turtles swam in close. Terrible isn't it? That they just do not care.

I have some wonderful close ups of a green that was here shortly after the Leatherbacks. I will have to post them.
