During 1981, an additional 14,900 adult female olive ridleys were tagged with monel metal (National Band and Tag Co., style 4-1005, size 19, special locking mechanism) and plastic (Allflex Tag Co., medium size, color green) tags at Playas Nancite and Ostional, Costa Rica. This brings the tagged population to 30,100. The following is a summary of recoveries (recorded as of 1 December 1981) made away from the nesting beaches. This is further evidence for the desirability of a cooperative regional program for the study and management of the east Pacific populations of ridleys
