Sea turtles in the Mediterranean once numbered in the tens of thousands, but pollution, the development of nesting beaches, incidental and intentional capture in fishing nets, have all taken their toll, and the populations have sharply declined. The Center for Marine Conservation is working with conservationists in Dalyan, Turkey, to protect one of the last undeveloped loggerhead nesting beaches in the Mediterranean. You can help support this program by "adopting" a loggerhead nest for only US$ 29. The funds raised will be used for educational programs.
