The cost of printing and mailing quarterly issues of the Marine Turtle Newsletter has soared in recent years. Printing, envelopes, mailing labels and postage cost US$16,000-$18,000 per annum, depending on the number of pages per issue. Bulk mailing, initiated in October 1990 for domestic delivery, will offer some relief. The results will not be dramatic, however, because overseas mailing consumes the largest share of the annual budget and cannot be reduced without compromising delivery service to hundreds of overseas readers. Therefore, we have been actively fund-raising in an attempt to augment the annual donation by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which provides roughly 30% of the Newsletter's budget. At this time we would like to offer special gratitude to the following organizations (listed in alphabetical order) for donating US$2000 or more during 1990:

These organizations, in concert with smaller donations from Conservation International and the Center for Marine Conservation (both in Washington D.C.), Greenpeace-Switzerland, H.E.A.R.T. (Houston, Texas), and dozens of readers, provided the financial resources needed to publish the Newsletter in 1990. The Spanish language edition of the Newsletter (Noticiero de Tortugas Marinas) is produced by Susana Salas in Costa Rica and supported by the Confederación Universitaria Centroamericana, World Wildlife Fund-USA, and the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Our gratitude is also extended to these organizations, and to Susana Salas who is doing a splendid job of significantly expanding the Newsletter's readership and influence in the Western Hemisphere.
