The 13th Annual Sea Turtle Symposium is scheduled for the last week in February 1993. The Symposium will be hosted by South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department (Nongame and Heritage Trust Section) and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (Coastal Resources Division). Registration will begin on Tuesday evening, 23 February, and Symposium sessions will be scheduled on 24-26 February. Workshops and other informal activities will be planned for Saturday, 27 February. Accommodations will be available for groups to meet on 22-23 February, prior to the opening of the Symposium. The location will be Villas By The Sea, Jekyll Island, Georgia, the same as last year. You may make reservations at any time by calling the Villas (in Georgia 1-800-342-6872, elsewhere in USA 1-800-841-6262, outside USA 912-635-2521). We will meet airline travelers in Brunswick (Georgia) and Jacksonville (Florida) on 21-23 February; return service will be provided on 27-28 February.
International participants: Please plan to arrive on Sunday, 21 February, and depart the following Sunday, 28 February, to participate in international working group meetings of great value to the Symposium. If you are in need of financial assistance for international travel and have not yet requested it, do so immediately. Our funds are very limited. Last year the Symposium brought together more than 500 participants from 25 nations and territories. The event was a great success, featuring a wide variety of oral and poster presentations on sea turtle research and conservation efforts around the world. The 1993 meeting promises to be the best one yet! Hope to see you all in February!
