2. In Legal Briefs (MTN 66:28) we quoted the Japan Times in reporting that a smuggler was arrested in February 1994 at Narita airport (Japan) carrying 800 pieces of hawksbill shell (worth ?3 million) in his suitcase, allegedly purchased in the Caribbean island nation of Dominica. We have since learned from TRAFFIC(Japan) that the origin of the shell was the Dominican Republic.
