SEA TURTLE TRAINING COURSE
The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Area de Conservación Guanacaste will sponsor a sea turtle training course in November 1995 at the Nancite Research Station in Santa Rosa National Park, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The course will focus on basic biology, conservation, and management of sea turtles. The course is designed for individuals with little or no previous training in this field and who are also involved in resource planning, management, or the protection of areas where sea turtles occur. Course size will be limited to 12 participants. University, government, and non-governmental organization employees are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should be Spanish-speaking, willing to live in a remote area with semi-primitive accommodations for one week, and be in good physical condition. Participants should be prepared to hike to the station (as far as 17 km) and participate in nightly beach work. Participants will be responsible for their travel costs to Santa Rosa National Park, although partial travel support is available for non-Costa Rican citizens. All food, lodging and course materials will be provided; there is no course fee.
