South Carolina DNR Sea Turtle Conservation Program

Waties Island is the northern most barrier island in South Carolina, Coastal Carolina University owns the southern third of the island. The beach on Waties Island is roughly 4 km in length, a 5 mile round trip walk. A nesting program was established in 1984 and averages 20 nests per season.
