Background

"Yellow" is a juvenile Kemp's ridley that originally stranded due to cold stunning in 2000 outside of Barstable, MA. At the time of stranding, this turtle was approximately 27 cm curved carapace length (CCL). After initial treatment at the New England Aquarium, "Yellow" was transferred to the Columbus Zoo for long-term rehabilitation. In 2003, "Yellow" was transferred to the Virginia Marine Science Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia. "Yellow" was released and satellite tracked by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in August 2003. At the time of release, "Yellow" had grown to over 50 cm CCL.
