Background
Clover is a loggerhead sea turtle that was taken from a nest on the North Beach of Tybee Island. She was excavated from her nest as a straggler hatchling on August 13th, 2008. She was taken to the Burton 4H Center to be raised until she was large enough to release. During her tenure at the 4H Center, Clover has served as an ambassador for her species and all sea turtles. Thousands of visitors to the 4H have been able to spend time with Clover and learn more about sea turtles. Through this interaction, they develop an appreciation for sea turtles and discover ways they can help protect them.
The Burton 4H Center worked with the community and raised money through their âCruise with Cloverâ campaign, enabling them to purchase a transmitter to track Clover once she is released. She was released at the south end of Tybee Island on August 4th, 2011.
