Background

Turtle #11583 was originally captured in the Chesapeake Bay by fishermen working in cooperation with the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) as part of a 25 year mark-recapture program conducted by the VIMS Sea Turtle Stranding and Research Program. This turtle was satellite tagged and released mid-July (2003) in the lower Chesapeake Bay.

Please note that the duty cycle for this turtle is set for two days on, one day off, so updates on its location will not be available daily.
