Introduction
Europa Island is a small atoll remotely located in the Mozambique Channel, Indian Ocean. It hosts a large nesting population of green turtles, which is very well protected. The island is virtually inhabited with only a small contingent of French military people living there. Very little is known about the migratory routes taken by females nesting at Europa, as only few recoveries of tagged turtles are available (mostly along the Madagascar West coast). The project aims at tracking the postnesting migrations of green turtle females as they leave Europa Island at the end of the nesting cycle. To this aim, three turtles have been equipped with telonics ST20 satellite transmitters.
