Four SPOT-293A PTTs from Wildlife Computers were deployed in Year 1 of this Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) flatback tagging program. Turtles were originally flipper tagged by park rangers for a short period during 1995, 1996 and 1997 with no further data recorded until the resurrection of this tagging dataset on 1st July 2013.
The migratory paths of nesting flatbacks at Greenhill Island have not been tracked before.
This CVA sea turtle monitoring program takes place on an island off Garig Gunak Barlu National Park (Cobourg Peninsula) in the Northern Territory of Australia.
CVA delivers and manages this annual monitoring program as part of our Wild Futures initiative adding special focus to our conservation work in key locations around Australia and New Zealand. Places critical for the survival of some of our most threatened wildlife includes this focus on sea turtles in the Northern Territory.
