Catherine Bell
Department of Environment Catherine graduated in 1998 from the University of Sussex (UK) with a BA in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. Since then she has been employed as a Special Projects Officer at the Cayman Islands Department of Environment, working primarily with the Cayman Islands Marine Turtle Research Project. Her graduate research began in July 2002, and focuses on aspects of marine turtle ecology and conservation. Work to date includes an analysis of a long-term tagging and recapture data-set in collaboration with the Cayman Turtle Farm, research into the nesting of Cayman's marine turtles, thermal ecology of marine turtle nests, and community-based participation in the assessment of the abundance and distribution of marine turtles in Cayman waters. The latter project is in close collaboration with the Turtles in the Caribbean Overseas Territories (TCOT) project.
