Darwin Anegada Image Library

The project recognises the important role for imagery in biodiversity conservation efforts during the project and during following activiies carried out by BVI project partners. Attractive images will be actively sought during all phases of the work and will appear throughout the project outputs including this website. In addition, a selection of the best images gathered during the project will be hosted in the Darwin Anegada Image Library, hosted as part of the SEATURTLE.ORG Image Library, which will allow them to be widely available and safely archived for future use in the BVI and internationally.

Darwin Anegada Bird List

An important part of avian biodiversity projects is to maintain an inventory of the bird species present with at least qualitative estimates of abundance and distribution. We include here the bird list which will be updated sequentially during the project.

The "Turtle Song"

Project staff visited St. Mary's School, Virgin Gorda to give a presentation on "Marine Turtles in the BVI". Darwin Research Fellow, Andy McGowan is pictured opposite with the children of Mrs. Hayward's class displaying some educational materials given to them as part of the visit. The whole school composed and performed a song for us. To download the song click here . Thank you to the staff and children of St. Mary's and to the Marine Conservation Society www.mcsuk.org for the donation of their excellent materials.

Writing about Plant Uses

As part of Darwin Project activities with the Anegada School, senior students took part in a fieldtrip and undertook a writing competition on plant uses in Anegada. The winning entry was by Stephanie Faulkner (Aged 15) who wrote about Anegada Sea Grapes.
